It's a New Start

Chinese New Year having passed, the school began. I moved out of my parent’s house, which is also the first time in my life to live alone. The day that I was about to make the contract with my renter, I felt excited but worried as well. I had expected to live all by myself for a long time, eager to prove that I was ready to be independent. However, on the other hand I wondered, would I be able to manage myself well, my living style, my time, or my schoolwork?

On the first day I moved in, my mom and my elder sister still helped me to settle; I, the youngest daughter in the house, have always been looked after by the whole family. Not until that day did I realize that this was more a psychological ritual of becoming responsible for my own than a physical form of moving out. I knew, from then on, I’d have to change. No more a sleepyhead, no more lazybones, and no more mummy-calling. Even though I doubted myself once or twice weather moving out was not a very brilliant decision, I was determined eventually because of that I knew this should happen sooner or later, and there was no reason to run away from it.

I kept a diary that night, telling myself to start taking responsibilities and never to make my mother worried again. I carefully cleaned up my room, the first suite I was going to have in lifetime, and arranged everything to a proper space. To be discipline, the first thing to do is to make rules. Now I keep my room always tidy and try to reset my living style to a regular and pattern. Due to this new start, it was not only a beginning of the semester, but it also was a turning point of my life. I appreciate it very much, and I know there are much more to learn in the coming future.
